July 26th- Balaam and Balak

For today's lesson, We're going to learn about Balaam and Balak, just your everyday talking animal from the Bible.

Preschool Tip: This is a little bit more of a complex story, so if you worry that your littlest ones will struggle to follow it, simplify and keep the main point for them in mind: that God always keeps His promise to bless His people. Let them see that they can trust God and that all God does is for His glory and our good.

Kids Tip: This story is one in the Bible that can make things confusing for kids... Why? Because everyone knows that animals can't talk! It's important to reiterate to kids that everything in the Bible is God's word. That means, even the stuff that might sound weird to us IS true. Remind then on Job 33:14 that says "For God speaks in one way and then another and we might not even realize it". When God wants to get your attention, he will. When he wants to call to your heart, he will. God can and will do anything to get your attention!

Christ Connection: Balaam could not curse God’s people. God had blessed the Israelites, so Balaam blessed them too. Fourteen hundred years after Balaam announced God’s promise, Jesus was born. God sent Jesus to bless the whole world by rescuing people from sin.
If you have a bible at your house, read the book of Numbers 22-24 If you don't have one, that's okay! CLICK HERE.

Today's Game Activity:

Let's play an exciting game of pin the mouth on the donkey!

Print the "Donkey" printable and cut out the mouth shape. Tape the donkey to a wall in the room and have everyone line up. Blindfold the first kid in line. Give the kid a mouth-shaped cutout with a small bit of tape of silly tacky on the back. See if they can stick the mouth onto the donkey's face without looking. Remove the cutout and let the next kid try!

Remind kids that today we learned about a donkey who God gave the ability to speak! The donkey told a man something very important from God. Why do you think God would use a donkey to deliver a message? Because God will do anything to get your attention!
