Dec 11- Children of God

Parents love to teach their babies new skills like clapping their hands, waving bye-bye, or blowing kisses. Moms and Dads will do these things over and over hoping that their babies will imitate their actions. It’s such a proud moment when babies finally try to be like their parents!

First, John tells us that the most important action for a follower of Jesus is to love. John said that others will know believers are truly children of God by the way they show love to one another. Believers can know this kind of love because Jesus showed it over and over again. Every miracle, every healing, and ultimately Jesus’ death on the cross all showed the great love of God and how much He wants to save sinners through Jesus.

Jesus showed us God’s love by what He did on the cross. We can show our love for Him by what we do to love and serve others. Like children who imitate their parents, we can honor God by loving one another the way Jesus first loved us.

John wrote a letter to teach believers in the church—the children of God—about the importance of showing love. Love is more than feelings or words; it is an action. Jesus showed God’s love for us when He died on the cross to rescue people from sin.

#JesusJams for today!

---> And here's this week's story!!

Christ Connection: Christ Connection: John's letter taught believers- children of God- that showing love is so important. Love is more than feelings or words; love is something you do. Jesus showed Gods love for us when He died on the cross to take our punishment for sin.
If you have a bible at your house, you'll be turning to 1 John 2-3. If you don't have a Bible, that's okay! CLICK HERE!

OPTION 1: Show love by sharing Give each child a sheet of paper and a single crayon or marker. Invite children to draw a picture. Guide children to show love to one another by trading colors.

Say • You all loved each other by sharing your crayons, One way that Christians can show love to each other is by sharing. What will happen for all Christians in the future? One day, all Christians will see Jesus in His glory and live with Him forever.

OPTION 2: Build towers together Form pairs. Give each pair several blocks. Lead one child to start building a tower while the other waits their turn. Then, ask them to switch places. Guide the second child to complete the tower that the first began. Say • Our key passage says that God started a good work in us, and He will complete it! One of you started a tower, and the other completed it. You worked so well together and showed love by taking turns! People who are God's children love one another.

OPTION 3: Love one another coupons Provide kids with construction paper, scissors, and markers. Invite the kids to create coupons to give to their family members. On each coupon, kids will write or draw a picture showing what they will do to show their love to the person they give the coupon to, such as completing a chore, giving a hug, or loaning a toy. Encourage the kids to be creative and help them play a time to give the coupons to their loved ones this week.

Say • Children of God love one another with their actions. There are so many ways we can show love to our family and friends. We show love to others because Jesus showed love to us. Jesus died on the cross to rescue us from sin. His love was more than Just His feelings and words- it was an action. As children of God we can show love to others through out words and actions.
