April 12- Easter Sunday!

He is risen, ya'll! Today we'll be learning and celebrating the gift Jesus gives: That he took our punishment for sin by giving up His life, and He gives us His righteousness. This is the best Easter gift we could ever get!

Let's celebrate this morning with some Easter jams!

MAIN POINT FOR TODAY: People welcomed Jesus to Jerusalem as their King.

Take a minute to CLICK HERE and read this story summary with your family then watch the video below

Christ Connection: The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the blood sacrifice made once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. God was pleased with Jesus’ sacrifice and raised Jesus from the dead to reign as King over all creation. We are forgiven only through Jesus. (Acts 4:12)
If you have a bible at your house, open to John 17-20 and have a parent read the Easter story out loud to you! If it's too long- Don't worry, read a little bit each day this week! If you don't have a Bible, that's okay! CLICK HERE.

WHEW! That was long and AWESOME! Take a little break if you need to and have the kiddos work on these activities pages:

Here's a question we had while watching the video:

Movement Game: Separating sin Form teams of two kids. Give each team a ball and instruct the kids on each team to stand one or two paces apart. The kids will toss the ball to their teammates. After each successful catch, the two will each take a step apart before trying to toss the ball back. Explain to Kids: The Bible says that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. [See Rom. 3:23.] Our sin separates us from God because He is holy. When Jesus died, He took our sin upon Himself and took the punishment we deserve. Jesus died on the cross to save people from sin, and He is alive.

Movement Game Option #2: Empty hands ball toss Instruct kids to stand in a circle. Lead the kids in playing several rounds of tossing games. Round 1: Give one player a ball and instruct him to pass it to his left. Kids should pass the ball around the circle as quickly as they can. Round 2: Give one player two balls. She should pass one to her left and the other to her right. Challenge kids to race and see which ball returns to the original player first. Round 3: Instruct kids to hold their hands flat and pass the ball around the circle without cupping their hands or using their fingers to hold the ball. Round 4: Give one player a ball and direct him to toss the ball to any other player. Kids can continue passing the ball across the circle. Then add a second ball. Kids must pay attention and be ready to catch the ball. Add a third or fourth ball depending on the size of your group. Explain to Kids: You have to have empty hands to catch a ball. That reminds me of what we need to welcome Jesus into our lives: nothing but empty hands of faith! We heard in our Bible story today how people welcomed Jesus to Jerusalem as their King. We can welcome Jesus into our lives as King by turning away from our sin and turning to Him.

and now, without further ado... the #craftivity

Today you might have one of two different options in your bags. A bracelet for the younger crowd or a sand Art for the older kid crowd.

Craft #1: These gospel bracelets are easily made by making knots and slipping on each color bead! Remember to put each one on in the correct order to tell the story of the gospel and salvation!

Show the kids how to thread one of each color of bead on the cord. As the kids work, explain what the different colors represent. Suggested colors and meanings: •Black: We are dead in our sins apart from Christ. (Eph. 2:1) •Red: Jesus redeemed us with His blood. (1 Pet. 1:18-19) •White: Our sins are washed away when we repent and believe in Jesus. (1 John 1:7) •Blue: We follow Jesus’ baptism to show the world of our new life with Christ. (Rom. 6:4) •Green: The Holy Spirit lives in us to help us grow in our faith. (Eph. 4:15) •Yellow: When Jesus returns to earth, we will live forever with Him in glory. (Rev. 21:3-4)

Craft #2 (older):

Much like the bracelet, each color of sand represents a part of the gospel story. Have kids pour in each color using the funnel to create a fun gospel keep-sake for their room!

Just like the bracelets, remember to talk about what each color means! Use the card in the package to go through each of the colors!
